Everyone who is familiar with construction knows that SNiP II-22-81 "Stone and reinforced masonry structures ..." says the following about the need to use masonry meshes:
" 6.75. Mesh reinforcement of horizontal masonry joints is allowed to be used only in cases where the increase in grades of bricks, stones and mortars does not provide the required strength of the masonry and the cross-sectional area of the element cannot be increased ."
Note the phrase " only in cases ".
This means that in other cases, the masonry mesh should not be used!
Nevertheless, without calculating the strength of masonry, designers often use a masonry mesh as opposed to SNiP II-22-81 developed by scientific institutes.
