What is PVC coated welded wire mesh?
- this is a welded mesh made of low-carbon wire using spot welding, coated by dipping in PVC (polyvinyl chloride), followed by baking.
The material used for the coating is low pressure polyethylene.
Coating thickness up to 0.2-0.5 mm. An increase in corrosion resistance is achieved due to the tight adhesion of the PVC coating to the metal at the molecular level.
So that the coating does not burst in the cold and does not fade in the sun, polyethylene has special additives that provide high frost resistance of the coating (up to -40 degrees Celsius) and the preservation of the original color of the product for many years.

Parameters of PVC coated welded mesh:
Welded polymer mesh is mainly produced in green (RAL 6005).
The main parameters of the welded polymer mesh are:
- cell size (distance between the centers of the rods framing the cell);
- The diameter of the wire.
Be careful with wire diameter information.
Often, in the designations of the welded mesh with PVC coating, the outer diameter is indicated along with the PVC coating.
But, depending on the production technology, the PVC layer can be either 0.2 mm or 0.5 mm. In our meshes, the thickness of the PVC coating is 0.2-0.3 mm
Example:
Welded mesh with polymer coating 50x50x2.2.
This designation indicates that the welded mesh has a cell of 50x50 mm and a PVC-coated wire diameter of 2.2 mm.
But the diameter of the steel core in this mesh can be either 1.8 mm, with a coating thickness of 0.2 mm, or 1.2 mm with a coating thickness of 0.5 mm.
In the first case, you will have a welded mesh with a polymer coating that is stronger than in the second.
Therefore, when buying mesh, always find out the diameter of the core, if it is not indicated in the documents.
Some suppliers (including "Metizy-94" Private Enterprise) in the designation of welded mesh with PVC may indicate two diameters: outer diameter and core diameter. This simplifies the purchase of welded mesh.
Coating
PVC coating has its own advantages and disadvantages compared to zinc coating.
- PVC is more resistant to salt and chemicals. Therefore, it is advisable to use the polymer in a maritime climate, on livestock farms near manure, in industrial areas and near chemical plants.
- The polymer coating is less resistant to mechanical damage. But if no constant mechanical influences are implied, then the mesh will last a very long time. Care must be taken to load, unload and install. But these actions are justified. A neatly installed mesh will delight you for many years.
- Ideal protection is zinc + PVC. Zinc protects against mechanical damage, and the polymer protects against chemical compounds.
