Raw materials for the production of wire VR-1
The wire of periodic profile Vr-1 is produced from wire rod.
For the manufacture of wire of a periodic profile with a diameter of 4 and 5 mm, St3 and St2 wire rods are used; for the production of VR-1 wire with a diameter of 3 mm, St1KP wire rod is used. Different compositions of steels for the production of wire of a periodic profile are due to the fact that St1KP is more ductile and thinner wire diameters can be produced from it.
The result is a wire with a corrugated profile and improved mechanical properties at small dimensions.
Wire VR-1 with diameters of 4 and 5 mm is produced according to GOST 6727-80 from low-carbon wire rod ( GOST 14-15-193) ST-3KP, St2KP.
VR-1 wire with a diameter of 3 mm is made from ST1KP wire rod.
Chemical composition of steel for wire VR-1
St 3 in its composition has 0.14-0.22% carbon, 0.15-0.3 silicon, 0.4-0.65 manganese, up to 0.3 nickel, chromium and copper, up to 0.05 sulfur, up to 0.4 phosphorus, up to 0.008 nitrogen, up to 0.08 arsenic.
Wire VR-1 has dents on the surface with a depth of 0.15 mm for wire VR-1 3 mm, 0.2 mm for wire VR-1 4 mm, 0.25 mm for wire VR-1 5 mm.
The dents are located at a distance of 2-2.5-3 mm from each other, respectively, of each diameter of the VR-1 wire (3-4-5 mm).

Wire VR-1 must have profiles on its surface in two planes.
These profiles are necessary for increased adhesion of the BP-1 wire to the solution.
But, in recent years, in order to reduce the cost of masonry mesh, manufacturers began to purchase wire of a periodic profile not with a diameter of 3 or 4 mm, but 2.7-2.8 mm or 3.7-3.8 mm . If it is not there and VR-1 wire is produced on a conventional tool, then the corrugation on the wire for reinforcement will be less than it should be according to GOST 6727-80.
