Grid Tolerances
Today, in pursuit of a client, manufacturers have begun to sell steel mesh for running meters, square meters, pieces.
This led to the fact that the grid, in which the wire diameter and cell size would correspond to what is written in the documents, is practically absent.
The reason is that it is not possible to produce a mesh from the exact wire diameter and the exact mesh size.
The dimensions will always be at least hundredths of a millimeter, but differ from those indicated in the documents.
Therefore, even in GOSTs and technical specifications, tolerances are prescribed.
For example, according to GOST 6727-80, VR-1 wire with a diameter of 5 mm can have a tolerance of +0.05 mm to -0.15 mm.
That is, the wire VR-1, which says that it has a wire diameter of 5 mm, can have a diameter of 4.85 mm and it will be considered high-quality.
But in Ukraine, metal meshes are not subject to mandatory certification. Therefore, the manufacturer, at his discretion, can use his own tolerances.
For example, -0.8 mm.
As a result, you buy a mesh made of VR-1 wire with a diameter of 3 mm, and during measurements it turns out that there is 2.2 mm and the manufacturer claims that everything is within tolerances, that this is an economy option.
But the main thing is that the nets shipped to the buyer were 1.85 times less than he should have received.
But that's not all.
1.85 times the buyer would receive the grid if the cell matched what was written.
In fact, I'm on the cell manufacturers set their own tolerances.
For example, a cell is 50x50, and there is 70x70, and this is another 1.4 times reduction in weight.
As a result, if 1 m2 of a mesh with a 50x50 cell with a 3 mm wire should have weighed 2.086 kg, then you will be shipped a 70x70 mesh with a 2.2 mm wire weighing only 0.826 kg.
The manufacturer shipped you a mesh 2.6 times less weight than it should ideally be and believes that he acted honestly.
We haven't yet discussed weight reduction through height and length tolerances on the roll or mesh map.
If you agree with such tolerances, there are no questions, and if not, then in order to avoid disappointment, when buying a mesh, you must negotiate in writing with the supplier the tolerances for wire diameter, mesh size, height and length of the card or roll.
